5 Reasons to Book Your Wedding Photographer Early in the Year
As a Minnesota wedding filmmaker and photographer, I’ve seen how planning ahead can make a world of difference in your wedding journey. One of the smartest moves you can make? Booking your photographer/videographer early in the year! Here are five compelling reasons why you shouldn’t wait.
1. Secure Your Dream Team
Minnesota wedding photographers and filmmakers, especially those who offer both photo and video in one package, often book up months (or even years) in advance. I currently am finalizing all booking for this year and have a handful of contracts out for next year as well. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't ask if your date is getting close! You never know if they have it open, or can suggest another vendor who they think offers equal value!
2. Start Building a Connection Early
Booking early allows us to get to know each other. This extra time helps them understand your personalities, preferences, and vision, ensuring that your photos and film truly reflects your love story. As a Minnesota wedding filmmaker, I value these connections to create authentic, emotional films. In order to do this, I want to chat with you and get to know you before your big day!
3. Collaborate on Creative Ideas
The earlier you book, the more time you have to brainstorm unique photo opportunities and locations. Whether it’s capturing golden hour at a Minnesota lake or finding the perfect flower field, my team can provide creative input that aligns with your style, making your wedding album and film one-of-a-kind. Many of my cou[les and I have a group chat where we share trends we are excited about, vision boards, and any other questions they may have! I love it because we have a running conversation with open communication the whole wedding planning process.
4. Craft a Personalized Timeline
As soon as we finalize a contract, I send over a questionnaire. This will ask you 30+ questions to help me build you the perfect timeline for your wedding day. I send it over in a google spread sheet and from their you can make adjustments, ask me specific questions, put in shot list suggestions.
It is shareable with your wedding party and family so we are all on the same page. For my Type A couples this is a dream! For my Type B couples it gives them a feeling of security knowing that I've got a plan for them and they don't have to stress!
5. Reduce Stress Through Early Communication
Starting the conversation early gives you peace of mind. You’ll have ample time to ask questions, share ideas, and develop trust, creating a relaxed and enjoyable experience on your wedding day. For Minnesota couples, this can mean feeling comfortable and natural in front of the camera, even in outdoor or unique venues. I have found friendship in so many couples throughout my carreer because of the time we had together before, during and after their wedding day.
